Wills Nate Profile 2016

The Brains Behind The Virtual Inkwell

I’m Nate Wills, the brains behind The Virtual Inkwell. I’m a recovering trial lawyer who has a passion for the written word and a knack for distilling complex information into an easy-to-understand format.

Born in 1978, I live in Cleveland Heights, Ohio with my wife and 3 children. An attorney by trade and training, I became disillusioned with America’s legal system, and realized I was no longer fulfilled as a trial lawyer. After 7 years of higher education and 10 years practicing law, 4 with small to mid-sized law firms and 6 as a solo practitioner, I dropped out of the legal profession and became a bartender, where I spent 4 years studying the human condition at its most exposed. Ultimately, the bartending life-style took me away the joys in my life – my wife and kids – so I reinvented myself as a freelance writer, combining my legal training and expertise with my ability to communicate with people across a broad range of socio-economic and racial lines.

Product of a Liberal-Arts Education

A proud product of a liberal arts education, I graduated from Denison University, then spent a year as a fundraising assistant for a private school in Boca Raton, Florida, where I developed my skills as a grant-writer. In 2001 I returned to my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, and three years later I graduated from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.

I burnished my business acumen with more than 10 years on the board of a business advocacy and resource organization, where I worked with small and large businesses, non-profits, community groups, and government organizations.

What Can I Do for You?

My work has been featured in scholarly publications, academic journals, and trade magazines, and I wrote countless briefs and motions for submission to state and federal trial and appellate courts.

As a writer, I begin every project with the end-goal in mind: who’s your audience, and what do you want them to do? Then I craft a unique message designed to accomplish those goals.

If you’re having trouble reaching your clients or customers in their sweet spot, I can help. Having spent my career communicating with people from all walks of life, I understand how to relate to people, and look forward to using my advocacy skills to promote you, and your business and services.
